Artist Ludo Modelo is organising the ‘WE’RE ALL HUMAN’ Parade, with 53 painted mannequins adorning the streets and squares of Antwerp. Gumption Group is supporting the initiative financially.

A group of more than twenty Belgian and Dutch artists have joined forces to decorate mannequins. The works of art are presented to the public in shop windows and glass containers. Gumption is co-sponsoring one of the containers.

‘The name of the project refers to the interconnectedness of people, despite differences in background, race, religion or culture,’ explains the man behind the initiative, Luc Modelo. After the exhibition, the works of art will be auctioned off, with all profits going to youth charities De Kampenhoeve STER, ArmenTeKort and Hand in Hand, Samen tegen Reuma.

‘Young artists deserve a bit of a helping hand, especially in times like these,’ says Nicolas Van Odijk, managing partner of Gumption Group. ‘We love supporting creativity and entrepreneurship. It’s the foundation on which our companies are built.’ The glass container Gumption co-sponsors is displayed by the Port House.

This is not Ludo Modelo’s first rodeo. In 2018, he organised the Hippo Parade, followed in 2019 by the Donkey Parade. As their names suggest, those editions involved painted sculptures of hippos and donkeys. With every parade, Ludo Modelo tries to find companies who want to sponsor the works of art. The blank mannequins were donated by fashion retail chain C&A. Last year, the project raised more than 70,000 euros.

Alderman for Culture Nabilla Ait Daoud formally opened the outdoor exhibition to the public.
