The coronavirus pandemic has triggered sudden changes in many areas. ‘It’s important to secure the competitive position of your SME now,’ says Rudi Potoms of V-Chain Belgium. This immediately raises the question: does your company software offer the right tools and support for today’s challenges? In other words, is your company ready for the digital revolution?

‘Our society and our business world have been in full digital transformation for a while now,’ says Rudi Potoms. ‘Digital transformation centres on customers, business processes and employees. Attracting and retaining customers is about customer experience, service and speed. The more efficient your processes, the faster you can help your customers. And more productive employees make for happier customers.’

Accelerate digitisation

Does COVID-19 increase the pressure to accelerate digitisation? ‘Absolutely,’ says Rudi. ‘As a manager of an SME you have to plot a course and make decisions. What measures and actions produce results now? And next week, two weeks or a month from now? If you have good data and analytical tools at your disposal, you can make sound decisions, which make the difference, faster.’

‘Here’s another example. As a result of social distancing, everybody has been working together remotely. Anyone who had invested in digital transformation of processes and IT infrastructure can do so more efficiently. Our shopping behaviour has also had to change. Shops selling non-essential goods are closed. Even sceptics shop online now. This habit won’t change after the pandemic has passed. E-commerce is here to stay. Ignoring this fact is no longer an option.’

Where do you start?

It’s about making use of the right processes, skills and digital technologies in a creative way. So, where do you start? ‘Currently, many SMEs are still working with outdated business applications. These don’t support new digital technologies properly or don’t give you an insight into all aspects of your business. V-Chain has the knowledge and technology to guide SMEs through the necessary changes,’ Rudi concludes.
