Allinox

A remarkable example is the story of Allinox from Oostrozebeke. Allinox designs and sells cookware under its brand, Beka, and distributes Brabantia and private-label products. They do this through retailers, their webshop, and marketplaces such as Amazon. These channels require correct, consistent, up-to-date product data, from technical specifications to visual material and customer-oriented unique selling points (USPs).

Manual management of product data was time-consuming and error-prone, says IT manager Kenneth Vanheuverswijn. "For creating and updating the data, different teams were responsible: R&D, marketing, sales, cost calculation, ... A single source of the truth? No, we didn't have that."

In 2019, Allinox sought a structural solution: a central system for product information management that automatically and in real-time exchanges data and updates all relevant systems.

"The integrated product information system is one of the most remarkable implementations we have realized in the past five years," says Kenneth Van Heuverswijn unequivocally. "By centralizing everything, even possibilities arose that we could not predict at the start of the project. Automatically feeding and keeping ten marketplaces up-to-date in real-time with a product change? That is obvious today. At that time, it wasn't even part of our wishlist."

pgb-Europe

pgb-Europe is a manufacturer of fastening materials – think plugs, screws, wood connections, anchorages, and drills. It also distributes a wide range of professional hand tools, from screwdrivers, chisels, and saws to toolboxes. Its headquarters are located in Melle near Ghent.

pgb-Europe offers a wide range of technical products. Product specifications—for example, dimensions, applications, and substrates — are very important for both professional and retail customers. "Clear and complete product information is an essential part of the product, alongside the physical characteristics," says Cedric Nolf, business improvement manager.

Seven years ago, pgb-Europe decided to expand its e-commerce and immediately invested in a product information system. A PIM system is designed to manage and enrich product and article data. They opted for a tailor-made solution.

Cedric Nolf explains why, how the system works, how it is integrated with ERP and e-commerce, and the strengths and pitfalls.

Arvesta logo

Arvesta

Arvesta is the number one partner for Belgian farmers and horticulturists, with a solid international network. They deliver sustainable animal feed and support farmers with everything they need in harvesting — from seeds, fertilizers, and plant protection to advanced agricultural technology. Consumers are most familiar with their 200 Aveve stores.

Arvesta also invested in a Product Information Management (PIM) system. The PIM platform is the organization's primary source for all sales and marketing-related product information and digital assets. It provides data for, among others, the Aveve webshop and promotional materials.

Jan Steukers and his team support the technologies and platforms for digital business transformation. Jan discusses the use cases and architecture for efficient data exchange.

The story focuses on integration. "Arvesta faces a challenging landscape with diverse applications," Jan explains. "This complicates the harmonization and integration of data between systems. That's why we built a central data hub. Thanks to this hub, we consistently and quickly provide correct and up-to-date data to all applications." A technology narrative tailored for business professionals.
