Atlas Copco Airpower will be running its global distribution centers using SAP S/4HANA. The project includes ERP, Extended Warehouse Management, Transport Management and Dispatching. The first phase implies the creation of a global template and the roll-out in Charlotte (USA). The DCs in Shanghai and Wilrijk will follow in the next phase. Atlas Copco assigned the realisation of the project to TheValueChain.

Atlas Copco Airpower is the global market leader in products including air compressors and generators. The stock is centralized in three distribution centers (DCs). From there, Atlas Copco Airpower supplies service components and serves its customers in over 180 countries. With this set-up, the company optimizes its worldwide inventory and simplifies interaction with production plants and customer centres. The DCs will have one global IT platform based on SAP S/4HANA.

The fact that the same core team builds the template and then implements it is an important added value.

Steven Van Riel, Program Manager, Atlas Copco

"We are constantly looking for the competitive edge that offer our customers added value”, says Hans Thibau, Vice President Logistics - Business Area Compressor Technique. “That is why we decided to bring our DCs to a common state-of-the-art platform. With this program, we optimize the transparency, speed and quality of our services to our customers. The consolidated platform will optimize component availability and is a solid digital basis to support over 90.000 connected machines.”

“The latest release of SAP S/4HANA adds a lot of embedded functionality with regard to warehouse and transport management. Furthermore, the integration with new technologies such as the Internet of Things will be out-of-the-box.”

Global template with TheValueChain

TheValueChain builds the global template to cover the needs of the three distribution centers. “TheValueChain is a pragmatic organization with proven experience in international projects”, says Steven Van Riel (picture), Program Manager for this implementation. "The fact that the same core team builds the template and then implements it is an important added value. Atlas Copco and TheValueChain have been working together for quite some time. As a result, they can rely on their existing experience and respond efficiently to specific needs”.

TheValueChain is proud to announce this deal! "It is a recognition for the quality work of the whole team, and the result of years of investment in know-how and expertise", says Ivan Leysen, Managing Partner of TheValueChain.
