With the Academy, Brightest now offers all training courses under a single roof. Both short training courses on specific areas of expertise and multi-day bootcamps are among the offerings. Other courses offered include agile testing, API testing, mobile testing, performance testing, web testing, and test automation, as well as courses on BDD-Cucumber or DevOps. Brightest also offers a 40-week SwITch training track. This programme trains non-technical testers to become technical testers with development skills.
“In a rapidly changing knowledge economy, staying current is crucial,” says Joke Gijsbrechts, who leads the Academy. “In light of this, Brightest has been investing in training since day one. Along the way, we have developed a great deal of expertise. Our people are at the top of their fields and are knowledgeable about the latest developments. We are delighted to share this knowledge with the world.”
The Brightest Academy makes an impact with its broad portfolio. “Clients can sign up for traditional, one-day training sessions or for bootcamps. They immerse themselves in a specific subject,” says Joke Gijsbrechts. “For advanced students, we offer in-depth technical training. We also offer customised training based on client need.”
The training courses take place both in-person, whenever coronavirus measures allow, and virtually. “Some training courses work really well online,” says Joke Gijsbrechts. “On the other hand, technical or practical courses with a lot of exercises work better in a classroom setting. We've opted for a combination of the two.”
For the long-term programmes, Brightest conducts an intake interview. As a result, the training fits well with the client's prior knowledge and expectations. The Academy recruits external experts for certain subjects, including certification training for PAQ, ISTQB, or IREB Foundation.
In order to promote the Academy, Brightest will be organising brown-bag lunch sessions as well as other activities. Joke Gijsbrechts: “We will be sharing interesting information during a free, half-hour online session focusing on a particular subject. Anyone interested in participating can sign up.”
